Boston Arts Academy is established.

It is located in a former Post Office warehouse at 174 Ipswich Street. It is the first high school for the performing and visual arts in Boston. The building is completely renovated by Perkins Eastman and Wilson Butler Associates in 2022, and renamed the Elma Lewis Building on May 24, 2023.
